Jersey Bulls Foundation Support for Schools continues
Following on from the successful launch of our After School Support Programme, which focuses on support for children and families with a free after school club, the Jersey Bulls Community Foundation has begun a new scheme to support physical education lessons in Island Schools.
The new in-school support scheme means that a qualified Jersey Bulls football coach will now be made available to 4 schools as an extra resource during term time to assist with PE lessons. The recipient schools that are already benefiting from this scheme are Janvrin, Haute Valle, Bel Royal and Samares and has only been made possible by generous funding from the Bosdet Foundation.
The sessions will be tailored to each school's curriculum needs and ranges from early primary school introduction to structured coaching to supporting secondary school pupils undertaking a BTEC in PE.
Foundation Chair, Danny Cole, said:
"We are thrilled to be able to build on the success of theAfter School Support Programme with this new in-school scheme which will be a genuine additional resource to schools and their staff. We are extremely grateful to the Bosdet Foundation for partnering with us to bring this opportunity to four schools so far and we hope that this will be a great addition to each school's physical education curriculum. "
The Bosdet Foundation Charity Manager, Alan Le Pavoux said:
“The Bosdet Foundation was delighted to support this program. From experience gained in our own programs and supporting other organisations we are hugely aware of the impact providing children and young people with opportunities has on their health and wellbeing. This program is being delivered to groups who continually miss out on opportunities to engage and be part of our wider community and we hope this goes some way to redressing this imbalance.
The Bosdet foundation is committed to the continued support of children and families in our community.”
Bel Royal Teacher Arron Dolman said
“Michael [Jersey Bulls assigned coach] really engages with the children to ensure all are involved and enjoying the game. The games played in the session are fun and the children are moving throughout, improving their technique and thinking about tactics.”
These schemes are only possible through the generous support of sponsors. If other firms and institutions would like to help see other schools benefit from the Foundation's various support schemes, please contact foundation@bulls.je
